How does JaLing work?

We have developed learning materials for pupils, centering around thematic units. They are available in DIN A4 activity books and are being put on websites.

At the beginning there is a sensitizing phase, during which the pupils express their thoughts concerning languages and speaking. A discussion guide is available for support in this phase.

The JaLing materials help pupils put together the elements of the language puzzle, recognize language functions and language differences, experiment creatively with language, and discuss language usage. They often direct the pupils to further learning aids: asking other people, using dictionaries and other books, Internet research, etc.
  • Examples and questions become the topic of the lesson.
  • Pupils test their own thougt processes by researching and trying out written and spoken languages.
  • They work with worksheets and various media either independently or under the direction of a teacher.
  • They learn to find the information around them, to evaluate it, and thus become more independent.

Training materials are available for teachers. Further materials are being developed.
